Yes, you can make a deposit on your ticket at a DB Travel Centre or DB agency. The deposit is EUR 6 per person. The remaining payment must be made no later than 14 days before travel.

When booking online, you must pay the price in full.

Yes, you can cancel or rebook your group ticket depending on the offer you have booked.

  • For group saver fares booked online, you can cancel the entire journey up to seven days before departure for EUR 19 per group ticket.
  • If you book via your local DB sales point or by telephone, you can cancel or rebook the entire journey free of charge up to 14 days before the day of travel. It is not possible to exchange after this. Refunds for the entire group journey are possible for a fee of EUR 5 per cancelling person and ticket up to one day before departure.
  • If you booked online, it is not possible to cancel or exchange the ticket for individual passengers.

Instant cancellation

You can cancel your digital ticket free of charge within a period of 3 hours (180 minutes) after purchase, regardless of the specific offer's terms and conditions. Payment will be refunded in full.

  • Yes, you can cancel individual participants if you booked via your local DB sales point or by telephone. You can remove individual passengers from the ticket free of charge up to 14 days before the day of travel. From 13 days to one day before the first day of validity, cancellation for individual passengers is subject to a fee of EUR 5 per cancelling person and ticket. The remaining group must consist of at least six people
  • No, if you have booked online, cancellation of individual participants is not possible.

If starting or completing your journey on regional or local trains (RE, RB, IRE, S-Bahn), you are not restricted to specific services or times.

Tickets for journeys up to 100 km are valid on the day of travel and until 3 am the following day.

Tickets for routes over 100 km are valid for a total of 2 days plus 3 hours, i.e. until 3 am on the second day after the day of travel.

The following regulations generally apply:

  • Children up to 5 years of age always travel free of charge on the German section of the route.They do not need their own ticket or free seat reservation.
  • Children aged 6 to 14 pay half the adult group fare on the German section of the route with DB.


Free travel for children:

  • Children up to 5 years of age always travel free of charge in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Hungary, Luxembourg (first class), Poland, Slovakia and Switzerland. They do not need their own ticket or free seat reservation.
  • This regulation applies in France, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia for children up to 3 years of age and in Sweden up to 6 years of age.
  • In Luxembourg, all children travel free of charge in second class.


50% discount on the adult fare:

  • In Luxembourg (first class) for children aged 6 to 11. All children in Luxembourg travel free of charge in second class
  • In Denmark and Slovakia for children aged 6 to 15
  • In France, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia for children aged 4 to 11
  • In Austria, Hungary and Poland for children aged 6 to 14
  • In Sweden for children aged 7 to 19
  • In Czechia for children aged 6 to 17
  • In Switzerland and Slovakia for children aged 6 to 15
  • In Croatia for children aged 6 to 11
  • In Belgium, children aged 6 to 11 receive a 40% discount

You can reassign an ICE or IC/EC group ticket to a different passenger. Reassigning the ticket allows the name of the main passenger to be changed for either direction on the group ticket originally booked. This offer is available for DB long-distance tickets, but not for regional tickets.
