Can children travel free of charge with the group super saver fare Europe?

The following regulations generally apply:

  • Children up to 5 years of age always travel free of charge on the German section of the route.They do not need their own ticket or free seat reservation.
  • Children aged 6 to 14 pay half the adult group fare on the German section of the route with DB.


Free travel for children:

  • Children up to 5 years of age always travel free of charge in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Hungary, Luxembourg (first class), Poland, Slovakia and Switzerland. They do not need their own ticket or free seat reservation.
  • This regulation applies in France, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia for children up to 3 years of age and in Sweden up to 6 years of age.
  • In Luxembourg, all children travel free of charge in second class.


50% discount on the adult fare:

  • In Luxembourg (first class) for children aged 6 to 11. All children in Luxembourg travel free of charge in second class
  • In Denmark and Slovakia for children aged 6 to 15
  • In France, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia for children aged 4 to 11
  • In Austria, Hungary and Poland for children aged 6 to 14
  • In Sweden for children aged 7 to 19
  • In Czechia for children aged 6 to 17
  • In Switzerland and Slovakia for children aged 6 to 15
  • In Croatia for children aged 6 to 11
  • In Belgium, children aged 6 to 11 receive a 40% discount
