DB Fernverkehr AG, which is part of the Deutsche Bahn Group, has made some adjustments and improvements to ensure compliance with the German Accessibility Reinforcement Act ("BFSG"), which transposes the European Accessibility Act (EU Directive 2019/882) into German law, and with the German regulation on accessibility requirements for products and services under the BFSG ("BFSGV").
As the largest provider of mobility services in Germany, Deutsche Bahn has a duty to society as a whole, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone has equal access to our information and digital services.
In terms of technical accessibility requirements, we strive, in line with the harmonised European EN 301 549 standard, for Level AA conformance with the most recent Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).
This application www.international-bahn.de largely complies with the success criteria in the most recent WCAG. We carry out continual reviews and self-assessments of this application and make continual improvements to it to comply with applicable requirements. Despite our best efforts, users may still encounter non-accessible components.
The services we provide
On www.international-bahn.de, DB Fernverkehr AG offers services related to planning, booking and obtaining information about passenger transport. The website provides users with information about travel connections and lets them buy digital tickets.
The services on www.international-bahn.de are provided based on information and functions made available to all users wherever possible. The booking engine is designed to be accessible with the help of assistive technologies without information being lost. All services bookable on www.international-bahn.de will gradually be implemented for booking directly on bahn.de by the end of 2025 and will no longer be available on www.international-bahn.de. This website will be shut down on 31 December 2025. The booking engine offered on it will already be switched off on 14 December 2025.
