Visit Innsbruck and the Ambras Castle by train

Innsbruck has long been a popular holiday destination. Its beautifully preserved Old Town with its narrow, cobblestone roads take visitors back in time to the days of the Hapsburg dynasty. Be sure to take a look at the famous Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl). This splendid Gothic masterpiece is made up of 2,657 gilded copper tiles. It was built in 1496 to commemorate Maximilian I's marriage and to give the royals a pleasant spot to observe the square below.
Beautiful vistas come in abundance in Innsbruck thanks to its position in the mountains and along the River Inn. Sport fans will appreciate this: the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympic Games were held in Innsbruck and are still the scene of national and international competitions every year.
