The ICE 3neo - Extraordinary comfort put on the rails in record time

The new ICE 3neo with numerous innovations and more comfort has been in service since 5 December 2022. With Siemens, we have a strong partner at our side for this train, which has been further developed on the already familiar ICE 3, with whom we have brought this train onto the rails in record time.

Interesting facts about the new ICE 3neo

DB's ICE fleet continues to grow with the ICE 3neo. This addition to the fleet will give DB the capacity to run the Germany-wide integrated regular-interval timetable in future.

The ICE 3neo will be used on the high-speed lines between North Rhine-Westphalia and Frankfurt (M) and on to Munich via Stuttgart. After receiving approval for Belgium and the Netherlands, the international connections from Frankfurt (M) to Amsterdam and Brussels will be added in the course of 2024. Over the next few years, the ICE 3neo will gradually be added to the ICE core network.

Further highlights of the ICE 3neo

  • There are power sockets for every seat in 1st and 2nd class
  • Pleasant lighting through time-of-day control 
  • Coat hooks on each seat in a row and tablet holders on the backrest of the seat in front
  • Contactless dispensers for soap and disinfectant in the lavatories 
  • Passenger information is shown on even more monitors, together with a better display  
  • Newly designed and more spacious luggage racks, with storage also at floor level 
  • The new ICE has window panes that are permeable to radio waves, enabling significantly improved reception on the train
  • A total of 73 new ICE 3neo trains from Siemens will be added to the DB fleet
  • All of the new ICE trains will be delivered no later than 2029
