The first class upgrade is valid in combination with second class tickets from the flexible fare and flexible business fare offers.

The first class upgrade is not valid in combination with second class offers other than those mentioned here. This applies, for example, to the saver fare, saver fare Europe, super saver fare and super saver fare Europe offers, as well as all local transport services.

If you have a first class BahnCard 25/50, you will receive the usual 25% or 50% discount when booking the first class upgrade. A second class BahnCard does not grant a discount when booking the first class upgrade. But you must still indicate your BahnCard in your travel profile when booking the upgrade if you also used it to book the ticket. This ensures that the correct price is calculated.

The first class upgrade can be cancelled free of charge before the first day of validity. Cancellation on or after the first day of validity is subject to a fee of EUR 19. Please note that the first class upgrade and the original second class ticket must be cancelled separately.

The original second class ticket remains valid and is still required for ticket inspection on the train. The first class upgrade covers the price of the change to first class and supplements the second class ticket, but does not replace it.

Yes, Komfort Check-in is possible. To check in to a first class seat, select the upgrade ticket and complete the Komfort Check-in process as usual. Please note that train attendants occasionally have to carry out spot checks. The checked-in seats chosen for this are randomly selected by the system (in some cases depending on the ticket) and displayed on the inspection device.
