The old Bavarian imperial city is situated along the famed Romantic Road (Romantische Strasse). Rothenburg thankfully managed to escape WWII unscathed; its massive stone walls and 42 towers date back to 1618. The 13th-century Town Hall (Rathaus) and the 14th-century Council Tavern with its clock are also sites to be seen.
