The regiopolis of Rostock, in Northern Germany, is located on the Baltic Sea and is therefore an excellent destination for city trippers and beach lovers alike. The seaside part of the city is called Warnemünde, where tourists can soak up the maritime atmosphere of a lighthouse, colourful old houses, the old fisherman port and, of course, a large beach. A visit to the University of Rostock, with its beautiful buildings and botanical garden, should also be on top of everyone's list. The university was founded in 1419 and is one of the oldest in Germany. Its main buildings are located near the pedestrian shopping area Kröpeliner Straße.
