Located on the banks of Lake Geneva and surrounded by the Alps and Jura mountains, the Swiss city of Geneva is truly stunning. Geneva's old town is situated on a hillside above the Rhône River and is dotted with picturesque old streets which lead to the impressive cathedral. The lake front features elegant promenades and manicured gardens. You can also enjoy a peak at Mont Blanc or the famous high-powered fountain, "Jet d'eau". Standing at 140 metres tall, the Jet d'eau shoots up water at an astonishing 200 kilometres an hour!
Aside from the sheer beauty of Geneva, it is also a very important city; it is home to the Headquarters of Europe's United Nations and the Red Cross, and continues to be a major hub for international diplomacy and banking.
