Booking online for passengers with a disability card

If you have a German disability card (Schwerbehindertenausweis) with the B mark, you will receive special discounts when booking on bahn.de or in the DB Navigator app.

To do this, please indicate that you have a disability card with the B mark under "Discounts" when searching for a connection.

Travelling with an accompanying person

If you have a disability card with the B mark and are travelling with an accompanying person, please specify this person as an additional passenger when booking.

The ticket system then ensures that the more expensive ticket is booked free of charge for the accompanying person. The accompanying person will then also be indicated on the ticket.

Important: The accompanying person must be at least six years old.

The disability card with the B mark entitles the accompanying person to travel with you. You must have your disability card with you on the train and show it during the ticket inspection.

Travelling with a companion or assistance dog

Companion or assistance dogs always travel free of charge. You do not have to specify the dogs when booking..

Seat reservation

If you have a disability card with the B mark, you can reserve a seat free of charge for yourself and one accompanying person (aged 6 and over) on long-distance Deutsche Bahn services.

Simply add the seat reservation after selecting your ticket.

Reserving a wheelchair space online

It is currently not possible to reserve a wheelchair space online.
If you would like to take an aid such as a wheelchair with you, please contact the Mobility Service Centre to make a reservation.

Extending transfer time

If you need more time when changing trains, you can set this in the connection search:

  • On bahn.de, click on "Transfer time" in the search and select your desired time. The system then only searches for connections with this transfer time.
  • In the DB Navigator app, go to "Options" in the connection search and change the transfer time there.

Assistance

If you need assistance with your journey, you can find more information before booking your ticket:

Information about accessibility at the station, as well as whether and when mobile service staff are available, can be found at bahnhof.de.
Information about how to board and alight the train can be found at bahn.de or in the DB Navigator app in the connection details under "Journey information".
Alternatively, you can also contact the Mobility Service Centre.

Important: Please inform the Mobility Service Centre of any assistance you require as soon as possible after purchasing your ticket.

Note for passengers with a token

If you have a disability card with a token, you can use local transport (e.g. regional trains) free of charge. You can also use the token to travel on certain ferries in the local area free of charge.

For this reason, it can be cheaper to only specify long-distance transport when booking your ticket, as you do not need a ticket for local transport.

If you have a disability card with the B mark and a token, your accompanying person can also travel free of charge on local transport.

Please contact the Mobility Service Centre directly for the following services

  • Requesting help at the station (please do so as soon as possible after purchasing your ticket)
  • Reserving seats or wheelchair spaces without booking a ticket
  • Using service offers for young children (0 to 5 years) with a disability card
