There are many changes and new offers accompanying the timetable change this summer. Here you will find all the important information for your business trips and commutes.

Super saver fare special offer for 2nd class from 11 June 2024

This offer lets you travel for as little as EUR 12.99, or from EUR 9.74 with a BahnCard Business 25 or 50 (25% discount).
The offer is valid in second class and can be purchased on short long-distance routes throughout Germany until 14 December 2024, subject to availability.

BahnCard Business goes digital

All BahnCard Business 25 and 50 discount cards purchased from 9 June 2024 will only be provided in digital form.
To use your digital BahnCard Business, you need a customer account on bahn.de and the DB Navigator app on your smartphone.
Alternatively, you can take a replacement document with you in the form of a PDF with a QR code as proof of your BahnCard Business, and present it on the train together with an official photo ID. This replacement document will be made available to all cardholders in the customer account from 9 June 2024 and can be printed out if required.
All currently valid BahnCard Business 25 and 50 plastic cards can continue to be used until the printed expiry date. If you lose your BahnCard Business, we will no longer be able to issue a replacement plastic card from 9 June 2024.

Prices and services for seat reservations

As of 9 June 2024, the reservation fees will be adjusted to EUR 5.20 in second class and EUR 6.50 in first class.

New trains for greater comfort

Frankfurt – Zurich – Milan: New Swiss Giruno high-speed trains are replacing the older Eurocity trains on this route. The multi-system Giruno offers around 400 seats, ICE comfort with power points, spacious luggage racks, wifi, a restaurant area and accessible boarding. It will be in daily use from June 2024.
Munich – Bolzano – Verona: ÖBB's new Railjet trains have been gradually replacing the old Eurocity trains since April. The nine-car trainsets with 532 seats are authorised for Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland at speeds of up to 230 km/h. They offer high-comfort seats and compartments for groups with six seats in Economy class and four seats in Business class. There are also low-floor access doors and lockable luggage racks at floor level.
To and from Brussels and Amsterdam with the ICE 3neo: The ICE 3neo is gradually replacing older trains on the routes to Belgium and the Netherlands.
Berlin – Dresden – Prague: New CD ComfortJets will gradually replace the old Eurocity trains from September 2024. The articulated trains offer 555 seats and on-board wifi, as well as 230 V power points and USB ports for powering and charging mobile devices, electric wheelchairs and electric bicycles. There is also storage space for bicycles and other large items of luggage.

New features in the DB Navigator app

Three new functions taken from the former DB Streckenagent app make the DB Navigator an indispensable digital travel companion for local and long-distance transport:

Favourite route

You can save regularly used routes as favourites to find connections faster and easier.
Digital travel companion

You can now also set up the digital travel companion for commuting routes. Select the days of the week on which you would like to receive push notifications for timetable deviations and reminders for boarding and changing trains.
Map

In addition to your current location, the new map function shows stops and stations in your vicinity, as well as the corresponding departures and arrivals.

Everything about DB Navigator

New feature for Komfort Check-in: the digital occupied indicator

The reservation displays on the trains will be expanded from summer 2024. In future, you will be able to see in real time up to which station a seat is occupied. You will also be able to activate an occupied indicator via Komfort Check-in. This will let you show that your seat is occupied even without a reservation, giving your more peace of mind when travelling.

In the ICE 3neo, finding a free seat is even easier thanks to the traffic light-style indicators on the reservation displays.

To use Komfort Check-in and mark your seat as occupied, simply select the ticket in the DB Navigator app, press the "Komfort Check-in" button, and enter the carriage and seat number if necessary.

Service changes due to engineering works

Check www.bahn.de or your DB Navigator/Business DB Navigator app again before you travel, as there may be timetable changes due to engineering works, especially on the following connections:

15 July (11 pm) to 14 December (midnight): general overhaul of the Frankfurt – Mannheim line (Riedbahn)
16 July to 12 August: overhaul of the Cologne – Frankfurt Airport high-speed line
16 August (10 pm) to 14 December: first comprehensive maintenance/modernisation on the Hamburg – Berlin high-speed line
