The BahnCard 50 Valentine's promo runs from 1 February to 28 February 2025. During this period, a BahnCard 50 holder can take a second person with them in the same travel class and at the same discount. The return journey must be made by 28 February 2025 and must also be booked in the same booking step.
When booking, the BahnCard 50 holder adds a second traveller with a BahnCard 50 discount in the same travel class as the BahnCard holder. The second traveller receives the same discount as the BahnCard holder but does not need their own BahnCard 50.
No, the promotion is only valid for journeys in February 2025 and the return journey must also be made by 28 February 2025.
You can purchase the tickets online or in the DB Navigator app as well as at DB travel centres, Deutsche Bahn agencies and DB ticket machines.
If the person travelling with you has a BahnCard 25, you do not have to add the BahnCard when booking the journey together. But you must select a BahnCard 50 for both travellers to receive the discount.
The trial BahnCard 50 gives you a 50% BahnCard discount on flexible fares and a 25% discount on super saver and saver fares within Germany in the corresponding travel class.
You can use the ICE, IC/EC trains, ÖBB Nightjet (reservation may be required) and local transport (IRE, RE, RB, S-Bahn).
Many transport associations, bus operators and private rail operators also provide trial BahnCard 50 discounts.
If the BahnCard is recognised on the desired connection, the discount is automatically deducted at the time of booking. You can use the digital BahnCard in the same way as the plastic BahnCard for the various regional fares and transport associations.
Whether the BahnCard is recognised in the respective state tariffs or transport associations is regulated by their tariff and transport conditions.

A trial BahnCard 50 does not feature a photo. When travelling, please bring your passport or national ID card with you for presentation during ticket inspection. No photo ID is required for holders under the age of 16.
The trial BahnCard 50 costs
- EUR 76.90 for 2nd class and
- EUR 152 for 1st class.
A trial BahnCard is valid for 3 months from the first day of validity.
Your trial BahnCard 50 is automatically renewed for one year unless you cancel it in writing at least 4 weeks before it is due to expire. The follow-up card will be a regular or reduced BahnCard 50 or a My BahnCard 50 for 1st or 2nd class.
You can cancel your trial BahnCard 50 up to four weeks before the end of the validity period.

- If cancellation is possible, confirm by clicking "Cancel BahnCard".

BahnCards can be purchased up to 6 months in advance. Tickets can be booked up to 12 months in advance. It is not necessary to already have a valid BahnCard at the time of booking for a journey planned in the future. A valid BahnCard must only be presented on the day of travel.
